Description:

Also known as N.R.A. Clays, sporting clay matches are held on Ranges D&E (200/300 yd. Rifle ranges). This event simulates field hunting - shooting at a variety of birds and rabbits which come at you from all angles. Targets are a mix of standard clays, midis, minis, and battues thrown at different speeds, angles and ranges so as to mimic the flight of most game birds, along with a couple of "wascally-wabbit"/bird combinations.
Scores are kept but the emphasis is on fun rather than competition. We’ll be glad to slow it down and/or shorten it up for new or inexperienced shooters to ensure they have an enjoyable time. Friendly advice from several of the club pros is never far away, along with some good-natured ribbing to keep things light and lively.
The most popular gauge is 12ga. but we have some 20’s, along with a few 28’s and 410’s too. Preferable chokes are improved cylinder and modified but good scores can be had with more open or closed chokes. You are allowed to shoot twice at the single without penalty so bring extra ammo for any re-shoots.

What you’ll need:

• eye and ear protection
• a shotgun that holds two shot shells
• two boxes (50 rounds) of low brass ammo loaded with 7 1/2 or 8 shot.
High brass loads or shot sizes larger than 7 1/2 are not allowed.
